Communications

Project management and client communication are critical components of any outsourced development project. Validio uses several mechanisms to ensure that each project is on track, and to make the process open and transparent to the client.

All project documentation and communications are done in English. All of Validio’s technical personnel are proficient in reading and writing English, while project managers and project leaders can also communicate verbally by phone or in person. Validio has a number of technical writers on staff that can further improve quality and clarity by proofreading and editing important documentation and messages.

Validio’s Ukraine-based development center is located in a more convenient time zone than similar centers in India or China, providing several hours of overlap with the U.S. workday for real-time communications and phone conferences. The time zone in Ukraine is GMT +2, which is two hours ahead of the United Kingdom and one hour ahead of the rest of Europe. The overlap is also advantageous for our U.S. clients – when it is 9 am PST or 12 am EST, it is 7 pm in Ukraine.

Validio’s development staff begins work at 10:30 am and ends its day at 7:30 pm Ukrainian time, creating one to two hours of overlap with a typical workday in the Pacific Time zone, four to five hours of overlap with the Eastern Time zone, and a full day of overlap with Europe.

Our primary communication method is e-mail. Validio responds to all e-mail messages within the same business day. When a full response to a request may take longer, Validio will respond quickly with the issue status and an estimated resolution timeframe. Instant messaging, telephone, and video conferencing options are also available. It is common for clients to review weekly project status directly with the offshore development team via teleconferencing, sometimes with the participation of Validio’s U.S.-based project managers.

Whenever necessary, we will also arrange on-site visits. American clients can easily meet with Validio’s U.S.-based managers located in the Seattle, WA area. When a visit by a technical manager or a project leader would be helpful, Validio can arrange for its Ukrainian personnel to visit a client’s location in the U.S. or Europe.

Clients may also travel to Validio’s development center in Kharkov, Ukraine, which is just a two-hour flight from connections in Vienna, Austria. Validio handles all accommodations in Ukraine, and can assist in developing a visit itinerary as well as booking flights.
